Last month, the top ten most-viewed channels and creators generated just over 11.8 billion total views; five of these channels maintained their same rankings from September, as well. Out of all 100 creators, seven of them increased rankings by at least 100 positions, with +1519 being the highest jump in ranking across these creators. Here’s what we found: Views on Entertainment Content Were Diversified in October Normally when we release our leaderboards every month, we expect to see the majority of the top 100 channels hailing from the entertainment genre, which is one of the most popular on YouTube. And while this was definitely the case for October’s leaderboard, as well, it seemed viewers were interested in a lot of different sub-genres of entertainment last month. While this sounds like just another children’s channel, it’s really the official channel of a cartoon adventure game, and it increased its ranking by 125 spots with almost 366 million views. What’s so unique about this accomplishment, however, is that Toon Blast only has ten videos on its YouTube channel, all of which were uploaded in July and are actually advertisements for the game, featuring Ryan Reynolds playing the game as he ignores or doesn’t show interest in everything else around him. What this means is all those 366 million views from October were generated on old videos, likely due to increased downloads and word-of-mouth popularity of the game! October is over, which means it’s officially time for us to check out the month’s leaderboard for the most-watched top YouTube channels. Last month, the top ten most-viewed channels and creators generated just over 11.8 billion total views; five of these channels maintained their same rankings from September, as well. Check out what else October’s most-watched YouTube channels were up to last month, according to the leaderboard:

  • The top three channels saw at least 1 billion views each, with the top performer garnering over 2 billion views alone.
  • The top three channels all maintained their ranks from August.
  • The highest average 30-day engagement rate (ER30) of the top ten channels hit 2.5x, while the highest ER30 of the top 100 publishers hitting a good 5.8x.
  • The best 30-day average (V30) from the top ten channels was a solid 46.5 million, while the best overall V30 across the top 100 channels landed at an astounding 120 million.
  • Out of all 100 creators, seven of them increased rankings by at least 100 positions, with +1519 being the highest jump in ranking across these creators.

October’s YouTube leaderboard has a lot of familiar names and genres in the top ten, including Cocomelon (children’s entertainment), SET India (India-based general entertainment channel from Sony Entertainment), the WWE (wrestling content and recaps galore), and 5-Minute Crafts (DIY and crafting content). We also saw Indian music label and entertainment brand T-Series maintain its enduring reign as the most-watched YouTube channel on the planet (even though it still can’t quite beat out PewDiePie for the most subscribers of all channels).

Beyond these top ten, however, we discovered a few standout channels which increased their rankings by at least a hundred positions, all from far more views than they received in September. These channels didn’t necessarily contribute to overarching trends on YouTube in October, but their increase in rankings clearly means those channels were all anyone wanted to watch on YouTube last month. Here’s what we found:

Views on Entertainment Content Were Diversified in October

Normally when we release our leaderboards every month, we expect to see the majority of the top 100 channels hailing from the entertainment genre, which is one of the most popular on YouTube. And while this was definitely the case for October’s leaderboard, as well, it seemed viewers were interested in a lot of different sub-genres of entertainment last month.

For starters, we saw the usual interest in kids’ programming and family entertainment, with two channels gaining grounds in this area. SuperToyzCollector jumped +123 positions thanks to almost 549 million views, and Les Boys TV2 moved up 262 spots due to more than 452 million views. Another popular genre on YouTube, Indian Bollywood and entertainment clips, also saw upward movement in October, with Filmi Jankhar being the most notable standout in this category; this channel increased its position by a solid 546 spots!
