Meet the CMI & #CMWorld Team: Joseph “JK” Kalinowski

Meet the CMI & #CMWorld Team: Joseph “JK” Kalinowski. Welcome to week 2 of our “Meet the CMI Team” series on the Content Marketing World blog! My main job at CMI is to work with the marketing, content creation and sales teams to bring their projects to life from the visual strategy side. Each day is a bit different including tasks such as designing custom blog visuals, ebooks and content marketing research reports to more involved projects such as visually developing the theme to Content Marketing World. The variation in projects on a daily basis has kept this job so exciting to me for so long. I love working with the teams through the ideation process of each project and seeing them come to life! Each year at CMWorld, I love bumping into and chatting with attendees that have an interest in visual strategy and design. I am also love the book (and refer to if often) Pretty Much Everything by graphic designer Aaron James Draplin. I’m pretty much an open book, but those who know me know that I am enchanted by the artwork of art nouveau painter and designer Alphonse Mucha. To meet JK and the rest of the CMI team, come join us in person at Content Marketing World, happening September 5-8, 2017 in Cleveland.

What makes you the most excited about work each day?

The variation in projects on a daily basis has kept this job so exciting to me for so long. I love working with the teams through the ideation process of each project and seeing them come to life!

What is your background, and how did it lead you into content marketing?

I worked as a senior designer in advertising and then the B2B publishing industry for many years until I met Joe Pulizzi at a neighborhood event nearly 10 years ago. We chatted content and design and from there I started freelancing for the company what would eventually become CMI, then known as Junta42. I was hired on as the company’s full time designer about a year after, eventually becoming CMI’s Creative Director.
