For the love of running (and beer)

Running has been such a part of my life these past few years it has now become more of a routine than a hobby. I have started to get to know other runners since I have joined some running clubs here in the Cleveland area. Of all the training runs and group outings we do, the ones that I love most are the “Brewery Runs.” Here in the city of Cleveland and the surrounding suburbs, there has been a surge of new breweries popping up and the craft/microbrew scene is bigger than ever. Our brewery runs usually start at a local brewery and will have an area mapped out (usually a 5k or 10k) for us to run ending up back at that brewery for a cold one and some laughs. Market Garden Brewery 1947 W 25th Street, Cleveland, OH Located in Ohio City, just across the river west of downtown, you will find this great brewery that has a great list of brews, a great menu and a great enclosed patio. Great Lakes Brewing Company 2516 Market Avenue, Cleveland, OH Great Lakes is one of the cornerstones of the brewing scene in the Cleveland area. Nano Brew Cleveland 1859 W 25th Street, Cleveland, OH This fun little brewery in Ohio City loves beer and bikes and they combined them both! Platform Beer Company 3506 Vega Avenue, Cleveland, OH Platform is a bit west of downtown (you will need a cab or Uber), but it is definitely worth the 5-minute ride to check out all that this brewery has to offer in their wide selection of brews. Join your fellow content marketers that have a passion for waking up early and doing a great 3-mile run or 1-mile walk around the city before the conference. Come and hit the pavement around the city and enjoy some of the tasty brews that Cleveland has to offer.

Running has been such a part of my life these past few years it has now become more of a routine than a hobby. I rely on my running routine for so much in addition to trying to stay somewhat healthy. I use it as a reason to get off my behind and get out to enjoy nature. I consider it my meditation to melt away stress. I use it as a muse when I am in a creative block.

As the years have passed (I have been regularly running for 10 years), I now using running as a social tool. I have started to get to know other runners since I have joined some running clubs here in the Cleveland area. These groups have not only introduced me to some wonderful new friends but have taken me on routes and journeys through the city and surrounding areas that I would have never experienced on my own.

I thought I would share a list of local breweries that we have visited that are within walking distance or a quick cab/uber ride – or even a run! – from the downtown hotels and the convention center, the home of Content Marketing World. A special hat tip to my friend and fellow runner Pete Grasso for helping me compile the list!
