Free SBC seminars announced for November

Surry Community College’s Small Business Center will be holding free seminars and workshops in October at various locations in Surry and Yadkin counties. Marketing Small Your Business will be the topic of a seminar on Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Center for Public Safety, 1220 State St., Mount Airy. Take a look behind the scenes at how a real retailer with over 50 locations is using many Google tools together to increase site traffic, user engagement and revenue. Operating an eCommerce Business – Selling on eBay will be discussed in a workshop on Monday, Nov. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Yadkin Center, 1001 College Drive, Yadkinville. This is a great seminar for anyone who wants to make eBay a primary marketing tool for their business. Small Business Taxes will be discussed in a seminar on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Center for Public Safety, 1220 State St., Mount Airy. How to Start a Childcare Business will be the subject of a seminar on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in J-Building at Surry Community College, 630 S. Main St., Dobson. Information will be provided on a program for businesses that have fallen behind on sales and use, withholding and other trust taxes. Karen Bargsley will be the speaker. The Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce is the sponsor for seminars held in Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain.

Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Center for Public Safety,
1220 State St., Mount Airy. Marketing for the 21st century small
business is more dynamic and challenging than ever, but it doesn’t
have to be. Discover the most effective and efficient ways to use
the many marketing tools available by attending this workshop. Gain
insights to understand and reach your customers, analyze your
industry and business environment, and learn to differentiate
between branding, advertising and grassroots marketing techniques.
Explore the components of an effective marketing plan in this
comprehensive seminar with speaker Dean Kanipe.

Google Case Study will be the subject of a workshop on Tuesday,
Nov. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Pilot Center, 612 E. Main St., Pilot
Mountain. Take a look behind the scenes at how a real retailer with
over 50 locations is using many Google tools together to increase
site traffic, user engagement and revenue. Learn more about several
Google tools including Analytics, Maps, AdWords and Display among
others. TJ Glover will be the speaker.

an account, listing items for sale, taking payments and shipping.
Topics will include eBay features and policies, choosing formats
and categories, writing descriptions that sell, submitting photos,
using the help section, feedback, PayPal and shipping tips. The
