He didn’t walk away with a little gold statue, but Timothee Chalamet was perhaps Oscar’s very biggest star on the very smallest of screens, according to Tubular Labs’ analysis of the five most popular online videos about 2018’s Oscar night ceremonies. Chalamet, 22 with the kind of cute-boy looks likely to appeal to many a tween-aged YouTube user, had key roles in two of the year’s most celebrated films, “Lady Bird” and “Call Me By Your Name.” Chalamet was nominated for Best Actor in the latter film, though his portrayal of a teen in a summer romance with his father’s research assistant lost out to Gary Oldman’s portrayal of Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour.” Given those breakout performances, it was no surprise that Chalamet also had a key part in two of Oscar’s biggest online videos, including a red-carpet reunion with his high school drama teacher by way of a long-distance link staged courtesy of ABC.
