Tubular’s monthly YouTube leaderboards always have the presence of two wildly popular genres: family programming and general entertainment (usually TV- or music-based channels). More often than not, we see one of these topics dominating during a particular month, while the other one takes a temporary backseat. Views and engagement on children’s programming were strong in September, with three of the top five channels hailing from this genre. For October, however, general entertainment can claim the biggest presence on the leaderboard.

Six of the top ten YouTube creators from October are channels which cater to film, TV, or music audiences. Out of these, five advanced to higher positions on the chart, with the biggest change in rank going to the World Wrestling Federation (WWE) with six whole jumps from #14 to #8. In October, the WWE’s official YouTube channel pulled in nearly 594 million views, a good 107 million more than the 487 million it claimed in September. The popular wrestling brand and network also proved its worth in terms of engagement last month, boasting the second-highest average 30-day engagement rate (ER30) of all publishers at 1.7x. The WWE’s most popular clip in October about wrestling group The Shield reuniting earned 11.3 million views and an extra-high engagement rate of 1.9x, almost double the normal baseline engagement.

The next brand to improve its rank by the most positions was publisher Workpoint Entertainment, which moved up three spots to place ninth with almost 572 million total views.
